Gold Leaf

Well, summer is finally here. It is hot at our house.   I am working on 2 place mats, and they are so much fun to make.  They are made in little strips and when they're finished they will be weaved together. It's very easy.  I'm all for something that is easy.  I tried to do some gold leafing this past weekend, and it was  NOT easy at all. I guess that just like anything else, it takes practice, but I didn't know it would be so hard to do. The first thing you have to know is that you cannot have a fan running in the background, and you cannot blow on the glue to get it to dry faster.  I'm just lucky that all that excess gold leaf , that gets brushed off , didn't stick to the floor, or the table, or the furniture!!  It went everywhere, and it's hard to sweep up.  All that work, but I did get a little gold box out of it.  Hubby even wanted to know what all the swearing was about.  LOL!!!  I'm going  back to my crocheting, it's very relaxing.
